Angela Johnston

Chief People Officer

Achieve Australia

Angela started her career in industrial relations working for the Fair Work Ombudsman where she provided information on awards and employer obligations under the Fair Work Act to all sizes of businesses. As a migrant from culturally diverse background, this experience opened her eyes how important it is to understand workplace rights and to be treated fairly according to the relevant award. This sparked her interest in Employment Law and Human Resources and how she can help businesses to not only be compliant but manage their workforce effectively to achieve business objectives.

Aligned with her passion for social justice and inclusion, she spent more than a decade working in human services in Western Australia and New South Wales. Angela has held senior HR roles in hospital, aged care, children, youth, family and in the last 7 years in disability services. She has considerable experience in transforming HR function through collaborative leadership, culture, data analytics and technology.

She is also involved voluntarily as an Ambassador and spoke person for Youth for Human Rights international in educating young people on their rights under the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.
